Alex Sidwell

Alex Sidwell is seeking his Masters of Music in Percussion Performance at Appalachian State University under Dr. Rob Falvo. At Appalachian State, Alex has performed as principal percussionist of the ASU Wind Ensemble and principal timpanist of the Appalachian Symphony Orchestra. Alex is currently a substitute percussionist with the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra, and was awarded an assistantship at ASU in both percussion and music theory. In 2014, Alex was the recipient of the third place and audience choice awards for the Rosen-Schaffel Competition for Young and Emerging Artists.
Alex received his Bachelors of Music in Percussion Performance from Auburn University under Dr. Doug Rosener. In his time at Auburn, he was principal percussionist of the Auburn University Symphonic Winds, with whom he participated in a tour throughout China to strengthen musical and cultural relations. He also performed with the Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band, and the acclaimed Auburn University Marching Band, with whom he performed at the 2009 Fiesta Bowl and the 2010 BCS National Championship.
Alex will graduate from the Hayes School of Music in May of 2015 and plans to be an active teacher, performer, and clinician throughout the Southeast while pursuing additional graduate study in education.

Alex Sidwell is a member of the College Music Society, Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society, and the Percussive Arts Society.
