Year:
2018

I am a music therapist who graduated in 2018 with the Master of Music Therapy degree and a certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy certificate. After completing my Bachelor’s in Music Therapy through Appalachian State, I worked as a music therapist with children, adolescents, and adults with developmental disabilities. Currently, I work at the J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center in the Creative Arts Department, where I am director of the AMT-approved music therapy internship program. During my master's, I led in-service training classes and groups for professional and direct care staff focusing on topics such as self-care and resiliency. I love group art making, drum circles, song circles, dance circles, and happenings where artists come together to create something ephemeral and unique to that time and place. I believe in the power of the creative process to connect people to themselves and to one another.
