Hunter Cox


Hunter Cox is pursuing a Master of Music in Piano Performance. He recently graduated Summa Cum Lauda with a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance and Music Education at Appalachian State University. Hunter began playing piano at the age of 12. In high school, Hunter studied piano with David Almond. He is a currently a student of Dr. Rodney Reynerson. Hunter taught as a piano instructor at the Appalachian State University Community Music School during his undergraduate studies and will continue during his graduate studies. While pursuing his undergrad, Hunter studied saxophone with Dr. Scott Kallestad and organ with Dr. Joby Bell. A Presser Scholar during his undergraduate studies, Hunter is also a graduate of the Honors College. As a winner of the 2015-2016 concerto aria competition at Appalachian, Hunter performed as a soloist with the Appalachian Symphony Orchestra. He also performed as a guest artist with the Lee County Community Orchestra in Sanford, North Carolina during their 2016-2017 season. Hunter is currently the organist at St. Elizabeth of the Hill Country Catholic Church, and a pianist at Sparta Presbyterian Church. Upon completion of the graduate program, Hunter intends to pursue a doctorate degree, and teach piano at the collegiate level.
