Daniel Myers

Daniel Myers is pursuing a Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance.  He recently graduated from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion Performance where he studied with Dr. Mario Gaetano.  Daniel has been an active educator and performer throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia with great focus in the greater Atlanta and Western North Carolina regions.  His work as a marching performer has brought opportunities to perform at WGI Finals, BOA Grand National Finals, Florida State Championships, South Carolina State Championships, and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade in 2014. Daniel has served on percussion staff at WCU, and is currently serves as caption head at Ola High School, and is a part of the writing and design team at Buncombe Beatz and Wren High School Indoor.  Off of the field, Daniel has been active in commissioning new works for solo percussion as well as his contemporary saxophone and percussion duo, the Hutchens/Myers Duo, which has had the opportunity to present two world premieres at the Navy Band International Saxophone Symposium held in Fairfax, Virginia.  As a winner of the 2017-2018 Concerto Competition, Daniel performed as a featured soloist with the WCU Wind Ensemble. Upon completion of the graduation program, Daniel plans to pursue his doctorate degree and teach percussion at the collegiate level.
